Will Google Forget?

Google's memory is long and many of us are grateful that it always seems to have the answer to what we are looking for regardless of how strange, obscure or irrelevant the information might be. However, now the top EU court has ruled that Google must also forget (some things). In a test of the so-called "right to be forgotten" the court has said that "irrelevant" and outdated data should be erased on request. Google does not control data, but offers links to information freely available on the internet. It has said that forcing it to remove data amounts to censorship. The "right to be forgotten" would require search engines to edit some searches to make them compliant with the European directive on the protection of personal data. Read on to find out more ...

Click and Collect - The way to go!

The UK demand for goods ordered online, but collected in stores, will soon be growing at a faster rate than home delivery ordering, as consumers embrace “click and collect” services. The volume of UK non-food sales made via the internet for collection in store is predicted to increase by 33m parcels this year, compared with 2013. Although Britain leads the way in both food and non-food click and collect, the channel is growing quickly in the USA too. Grocery drive-throughs, which originated in France, are also expanding. Website Health Check - Check for tablets!

If you have not checked your website on a tablet computer then now is the time to do so. Tablet adoption in Europe is on the rise: 100 million+ users in the EU5 (UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain) is forecasted by the end of 2014. All EU5 countries will see double-digit percentage gains in their tablet populations this year, eMarketer forecasts, with the number of tablet users rising fastest in Germany and France through 2016. According to the research firm, more than 41.1 percent of people in the UK will use a tablet regularly in 2014, compared with 22.6 percent of those in Italy.
