IBT Partners go to Pennsylvania International Week

Posted by Hannah Bryant on Wed, Oct 16, 2013

As the State of Pennsylvania’s Authorised Trade Representative (ATR) for France, IBT Partners attended the ‘Pennsylvania International Week 2013’ (PIW2013), to meet with companies there and discuss their European development.

Our business development manager Romain Balluais crossed the pond for a 15-day trip around some of Pennsylvania’s business centres including Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Erie, Lancaster, Altoona, State College, Lehigh Valley, Wilke-Barres, Saint-Marys and met with over 80 companies from a number of different sectors, ranging from health care equipment, to pharmaceuticals, to the wood industry.

Romain also had the great pleasure of attending a reception with Senator Mike Brubaker and Secretary Alan Walker, both of whom understand the importance of export and are of great support to the Pennsylvania Trade programme.

All the companies attending the PIW event share the common goal of exporting. At the French desk, Romain’s role is to understand their services/products, assess their needs and objectives in France and evaluate the different issues that they will be facing by entering the French market. One of the major challenges faced is making their brand visible in Europe, and how to become the ‘go-to’ name amongst Europeans.

There are lots of short-term solutions that IBT Partners offers: market review, market entry strategy, distributor, agent, end client search, trade show assistance… However, when it comes to finding a long-term solution for increasing visibility in Europe, our recommendation is clear: implement a strong localised online strategy.

An online presence is what will really drive the success of US companies developing their export market in Europe. In a world in which online presence is increasingly influential, it makes sense to take advantage of the webmarketing tools available, as they offer an easy and ongoing way to interact with European prospects.

So to make sure that your company gets the attention it deserves in Europe, make sure you have the best possible content for your online market!
