SIAL is a global food exhibition taking place in Paris, and as such it could not be missed out by IBT Partners and our clients. This October, 84% of the exhibitors came from 100 countries outside of France, turning this exhibition into a real international food experience.
The event, which was attended by 140 000 visitors from over 200 counties, was generally positively evaluated. The show was very lively and busy, and with 5 900 exhibitors it was nearly impossible to visit all the exhibits. Careful preparation was therefore deemed necessary for those who wanted to maximize their experience at the salon and ultimately find what they were looking for.
We found the show very interesting due to numerous innovations introduced at the exhibition. The innovations mostly followed the current food trends segmented by the organizers into five categories to reflect the latest customers demands: Pleasure, Health, Well-being, Convenience, and Ethics. The SIAL Innovation Observatory allowed us to discover food and drinks of the most innovative exhibitors, whose trendy products were of great inspiration to many visitors. Visitors could also express their opinion by voting an online survey to award the Innovation Web Award to the product they perceived to be the most innovative. Professional juries later also awarded the best innovators within their categories, who were introduced at the ceremony where 18 SIAL Innovation Awards were received.
Very engaging part of the exhibition was the “Cuisine by SIAL”, a real cuisine show, where chefs from all over the world could demonstrate their culinary art to reflect the latest food trends. Their creativity demonstrated in both combination of ingredients and the presentation itself was very impressive.
